On the day of the launch, myself, Kiley Donaghy, Dr. Andy Ouellette, and Rad Murphy rendezvoused on the deck of the OCEARCH vessel near the Landing on the St. John's River at 7 a.m. The vessel went underway, and by 1:00 the buoys were launched. When the ship was a mile offshore, the buoys were dropped one at a time over the side of the ship. The JU and Foundation Academy buoys were launched by Kiley and myself, and the Bolles buoy was launched by Rad. We slowly lowered the buoys down the ide of the ship into an upright position, and let them go. We had success with all of the drifters! All immediately oriented themselves upright and were visible floating away from the vessel. It was an exciting feeling, just waiting to see how far they will go!
